Terms & Conditions
Last updated: [Oct 5th 2024]
These terms apply whenever you book a repair with Bristol iPhone Repair. Please read them before booking. If anything is unclear, get in touch and we'll happily explain before you go ahead.
1. Who we are
Bristol iPhone Repair is operated by Michael Irwin, trading as Bristol iPhone Repair ("we", "us", "our"). Our registered business address is Boxworks, Engine Shed, Clock Tower Yard, Temple Meads, Bristol, BS1 6QH. This is a registered address only — we don't have a shop, and this address isn't open to the public or able to receive devices for repair. We're a fully mobile service: our engineers travel to you.
We are not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by Apple Inc. Any references to Apple products are for identification purposes only.
2. Definitions
- "Agreement"
- These terms and conditions, together with any information provided at the time of booking, which govern the contract between us and you.
- "Booking"
- Your request for us to carry out a repair, whether made online, by phone, by text, or by email.
- "Device"
- The iPhone, iPad, or other device you ask us to repair.
- "Repair"
- Any service we carry out on your Device under this Agreement.
- "You" / "your"
- The person booking the Repair.
3. How a booking becomes a contract
A Booking is an offer by you for us to carry out a Repair on the terms set out here. The contract between us is formed when we confirm your appointment, whether by automated confirmation, text, or email — not simply when you submit a booking request.
We may decline or cancel a Booking at our discretion, for example if we don't cover your area, don't have an available appointment, or reasonably suspect the information given is inaccurate. Where we do this, we'll let you know using the contact details you've given us.
4. Where the repair takes place
This is a mobile service. When you book, you'll agree a location with us — typically your home or workplace. On arrival, our engineer will carry out the Repair either at that location or, for repairs that involve heat or fine glass work, in the back of our fully equipped repair van, which we'll park nearby.
You (or someone you authorise) should be present, or reasonably available, for the duration of the Repair, including to unlock the Device where needed and to confirm you're happy with the completed work.
5. Your right to cancel
Because our engineer visits you at a location away from our registered business premises, this is generally treated as an "off-premises contract" under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. This normally gives you 14 days from booking to cancel without giving a reason.
In practice, most of our customers want the repair carried out on the day, well within that 14-day window. By confirming your Booking and asking us to attend on your chosen date, you're expressly asking us to begin the Repair before the 14-day period ends.
Once the Repair is complete and you've confirmed you're happy with it, your right to cancel that Repair ends — you'll have received the full service you asked for. If you cancel before we begin work, you won't be charged. If you cancel after our engineer has travelled to you but before work begins, we may charge a reasonable amount for the time and travel already incurred.
This clause doesn't affect your separate statutory rights if a Repair turns out to be faulty or not as described — see clause 10 (Our Warranty) below.
6. Price and payment
Prices are those confirmed to you at the time of booking, or agreed with our engineer on arrival if the issue differs from what was originally described. We'll always tell you the price before carrying out any work, and before doing anything beyond what you originally booked.
Payment is taken once the Repair is complete and you've confirmed you're happy with it — not upfront. We accept cash, card, and bank transfer; our engineers carry card machines.
If we're unable to complete a Repair, you won't be charged for that Repair (see our no fix, no fee policy).
7. Your responsibilities
- Please back up your Device before your appointment. While we take great care, we can't guarantee against data loss during a repair, and we're not able to restore lost data.
- Please have your passcode ready, or be available to enter it, so we can fully test your Device before and after the Repair.
- Please let us know about any pre-existing damage (including cracks, water exposure, or previous repairs) when you book, so we can advise you accurately.
- Please ensure the agreed location is safe and reasonably accessible for our engineer, including parking where relevant.
8. Before and after testing
We test your Device before starting work and again once the Repair is complete, and we'll show you the results in person. A written testing report is emailed to you afterwards. See how we test for more detail, including a sample report.
9. Discount codes
Discount codes (such as those for students, NHS staff, or Blue Light Card holders) are applied at the time of booking and may require valid ID to be shown on the day. Codes cannot be combined unless stated otherwise, and we may withdraw or amend any code at any time.
10. Our warranty
Repairs are covered by our lifetime warranty on parts and labour against manufacturing and fitting defects, and battery replacements are separately covered for 12 months. Full terms, including what is and isn't covered, are set out on our lifetime warranty page, which forms part of this Agreement.
These warranty terms are in addition to, and don't affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
11. Our liability
We'll carry out every Repair with reasonable care and skill. Where we're at fault, our liability is limited to the cost of the Repair in question, except that nothing in this Agreement limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
We're not liable for loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business, or any other indirect or consequential loss arising from a Repair, except where caused by our negligence in circumstances not otherwise excluded above.
Repairing your Device using non-original or third-party parts may affect any warranty you have with the original manufacturer. You accept this when you book a Repair with us.
12. Circumstances beyond our control
We won't be responsible for any delay or failure to carry out a Repair caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as severe weather, traffic incidents, or events affecting our engineers' ability to travel to you. We'll let you know as soon as reasonably possible and rearrange your appointment.
13. Data protection
We only collect the personal information needed to arrange and carry out your Repair, such as your name, contact details, and appointment location. We don't sell your data. For more detail on how we handle your information, please get in touch and we'll be happy to explain.
14. Complaints
If anything about your Repair isn't right, please get in touch as soon as possible so we can put it right. Most issues can be resolved quickly and directly.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your Repair is the one in force at the time you make your Booking.
16. General
If any part of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply. This Agreement is between you and us only; no other person has any right to enforce its terms. This Agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and both parties agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
Get in touch at [email protected] or via our contact page before booking, and we'll be happy to explain anything that's unclear.
