The Big Cheese Adventure! 🧀

Smelly cheeses, rainbow cheeses, and a quiz to test your cheese brain!

🧀🐭🧀🐭

🤢 The Smelly Cheese Hall of Fame

Tap a cheese to find out just how stinky it really is!

🧀

Stinking Bishop

👃👃👃👃👃
Tap me!
This cheese from Gloucestershire is washed in pear juice while it ages — that's what gives it such a whiffy smell! It's so pongy it was even used to wake up a giant panda in a famous cartoon.
🧀

Époisses

👃👃👃👃👃
Tap me!
A French cheese so smelly it's banned on some public transport! It's washed in brandy, which gives it a big orange rind and a very strong whiff.
🧀

Roquefort

👃👃👃👃👃
Tap me!
This blue cheese is made in caves in France where a special mould floats in the air. The mould is what makes the blue veins — and the smell!
🧀

Limburger

👃👃👃👃👃
Tap me!
Famous for smelling a bit like stinky feet! That's because it has some of the same bacteria that live on human skin. Yuck — and yum, apparently!

🌈 The Rainbow Cheese Parade

Cheese isn't just yellow — tap each wheel to see why!

Red Leicester

This cheese gets its orange-red colour from a natural plant dye called annatto, made from the seeds of a tropical tree!

Wensleydale & Cranberry

Crumbly Yorkshire cheese with pink cranberries mixed right in. Wallace and Gromit's favourite cheese comes from this family!

Blue Stilton

The blue-green streaks are a friendly mould that grows on purpose. Thin needles are poked through the cheese to let air in so the blue can spread!

Mimolette

This French cheese looks like a cannonball or a giant orange! It's even got a bumpy rind, sometimes nibbled into shape by tiny cheese mites.

Sage Derby

Green swirls run through this cheese from real sage leaf juice mixed into the milk, giving it a herby taste and a marbled, mossy look.

Brie

That soft, snowy-white rind isn't mould you should worry about — it's a special edible mould that's grown on purpose to give brie its creamy centre.
